GHOST HUNTING IN PICTON

For the last eight years, local historian and tour guide, Liz Vincent has
run ghost  hunts on Friday and Saturday nights in Picton.  Participants are treated to tales of some of Picton's scariest residents and visit their
haunted hideaways. One weekend ghost hunts are done around a 2 course meal, the next around a supper.
The two course meal is provided by "The Art on Argyle Café" in the haunted old post office building on the corner of Menangle and Argyle Streets Picton.

The dinner evenings begins at 7-00pm on a Saturday, 7-30pm on a Friday when the main course is served.  Following that, participants will walk the
streets of Picton hearing about the ghosts of Picton past while viewing many homes and buildings hearing the tales of paranormal activity within.

Participants will  see where the baker cut his throat, the visitor shot
himself and where the shopkeeper hanged herself.  Then it's up the hill to
the Redbank Range Tunnel.  It is also a little darker. It is here the
highlight of the evening occurs when  participants are taken through an
historic, disused railway tunnel and must be brave enough to stand in the
dark to watch and wait. The evening finishes with dessert and coffee to stop the pounding hearts.

Those interested can make single ticket bookings or make up tables of any number. Cost is $50-00 a head for the two course dinner and tour.
The Supper Ghost Hunt at $35 per head is ideal for those on a tight budget or diet.  Here the participants do the tour in its entirety and finish with a delicious supper at "The Art on Argyle Cafe".  Supper nights start at
7-30pm on a Saturday, 8pm on a Friday.  Stand-by "tour only" is available on supper nights for $25 a head.

Participants are advised to bring sensible walking shoes, a torch, a strong
heart and an umbrella in case of inclement weather or as a protection to
ward off over zealous ghosts.

All participants receive a certificate of survival.
Private tours for adults or kids are done Monday through to Thursday where participants can change the tour to suit, minimum 15 people.
Kids Ghost Hunts are held during the school holidays at $13 per kid 13 and under, same price for parent.  Kids tours for the 14 to 17 age group
separate night is $15 a head. Scary birthday parties can also be arranged,
Monday to Thursday only, minimum 15 victims required.

The books where previous participants have entered their  experiences on the tours plus the photo display of strange paranormal photos taken on the tours are available to participants and are always of great interest. The book "Ghosts of Picton Past" written by Liz is also available for purchase.  For current information  on our other ghost tours on a coach, check the website.

Perhaps we can plan a regular upper Picton tour early in the year?
It also covers the tunnel.

Yes I shall do a full report of this nite (hey any going to this overniter please do contribute as well) & yes I do want do the whole nite (in the shade of MOST HAUNTED as insirpration.I have been to this place last year & got some strange pics.
Mowbray Park Holiday Farm does have atmosphere of a paranormal kind.I did experience cold spots & also witnessed something weird with the toliet block in the picnic area. You see these amenities have those light switches where it's push-button & has a five minute hold on that light.Well these lights come on without being pushed....when I walked past the block's enterance, the light flicked on & off & then it came on & stayed on for 17 minutes.Electricians have checked this light out many times & there's no way this light would come on it's own,the button has to pushed. And why the 17 minutes????When the light comes on,it stays on for 5 minutes & then it's turns off.Electric fault or paranormal we shall see (i hope!) :)

Hey Christine sorry for posting my post in the wrong section. I just want to know is it possible to go and explore Picton Tunnel on our own without any Liz or guides or tours and fairy tales. Just good old see for yourself type of thing. Or is it guarded up there? Anyone with any infor on that please let me know.

ok kool, we'll definitely jig it out then lool you want any feedback if there is anything interesting to report? Maybe i'll hook up with that Emily chick lol i'll see if i can get her number ;) lol I guess i'll have to ask that Liz chick for a permission first :

WARNING: This is a note to anyone who plans on visiting the Picton Tunnel without proper authority PICTON TUNNEL IS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY - The police have been out regularly patrolling the area now due to some destruction and damage to the area from unwelcome visitors - if you would like to visit the tunnel YOU NEED TO OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM LIZ VINCENT FIRST - locals now call the police when they see anyone unauthorized turn off at the tunnel road. IF YOU VENTURE UP THERE WITHOUT PERMISSION YOU ARE TRESPASSING AND IF THE POLICE ARE CALLED YOU WILL BE FINED.

OOps pressed the wrong button sorry lol. I hope that Rockwood Cemetry doesnt have any signs like that where you have to ask Liz for permission to visit. Most likely Liz will charge just to even ask about getting a pass to the tunnel so anyone wants any feedback from the cemetry?

Liz can put you on an email list and she will email you monthly with whats happening and what tours she is doing...well worth it, I do.

I've been on many of her tours including the investigation she did at the old Campbelltown Theatre. That was an interesting night especially if you are into EVP's.

The tunnel has been closed now for a few months due to the Council declaring it unsafe due to cracks in the walls, but she still stands at the entrance of the tunnel to see Emily and the orbs dancing along the roof. Only thing is though, I'm not sure if the short bald headed spirit will make an appearance, he usually blocks you from getting too close to Emily.

On one tour, my friend had gotten back to her car and noticed tiny handprints on the car. When we got home she took a photo of them, then washed the car the next day, only to find the dusty prints returned. :o

I have been in the tunnel and we never saw much. We spooked each other though. The lights coming from the freeway make it look like there are lights inside the tunnel but there really isnt.

I have never been on any tours - as for the last two years (that I have been interested in this stuff) I have been suffering from a knee injury which affects the walking I can do but am hopeful of having it fixed shortly and hopefully can take this tour it is one that has always interested me.
