Title: Ghosts of the Drunken Admiral: Hobart TAS
Post by: KANACKI on March 02, 2020, 05:20:41 PM
The Drunken Admiral Restauarnt Bar. Is a quirky Icon of an eatery based on a nautical theme aptly sited in the harbour of Hobart. Its is well worth a visit in its own right but in fun frivolity of the place its also known for its dark side. In 1869, George Pea(you radiate sunshine and light) moved his jam-making business to a warehouse on Old Wharf.

A 12-year-old Henry Jones began working at the factory, which became H Jones and Co IXL Jams. The building still stands on Hunter Street at Hobart's wharf, where the Drunken Admiral restaurant operates.

There are numerous tales of paranormal activity around the area, with sightings of a young girl named Millie and even Henry Jones himself.

Drunken Admiral proprietor Craig Godfrey said many people have experienced strange things in the building, which is nearly 200 years old.Millie is reported to be about nine years old, with red hair and a white bonnet."Millie gets up to all sorts of mischief," he said.

"She turns the gas off and undoes the cook's aprons when they're not looking and moves things about."
Mr Godfrey said that recently, a customer from Canada said she had a number of experiences while dining at the restaurant.

There is a mystery from the past? Perhaps ghost of Millie is trying to tell us some thing?

Finally in October the Corner concluded after no one came forward to claim the body of the young identified  girl, that she died either by accidental drowning or by murder by person or persons unknown. See newspaper clipping below.

Another sad story about an unidentified girl, murdered (according to the Jury in the case) by drowning.

The photographs certainly provide a most emotional (for me) setting, particularly the first external one, of the harbour setting.

I feel a lot of sadness, but not fear strangely enough.

What are your thoughts KANACKI?

Hello Simon I think its a sad little girl old enough to comprehend that for her to pass over she wants recognition of who she was and her fate. That is her obsession to reveal her identity truth of her demise. And some how the building has some time in the past has a connection to the events.

A great summary KANACKI and one that tends to describe the pain the girl is in; as I said a very sad story.

Hello Simon Many years ago my late wife and I when in Hobart stayed in  the place next door. We dined a few times there in drunken Admiral. I never noticed anything other how quirky it was inside the place.  I did not know about the ghost story until years later.

Wow, I would certainly love to dine there myself and try and "resolve" the little's untimely death and help her move on.

Spirits are trapped in a never ending cycle, most not even knowing they have died; truly sad KANACKI.

Hello Simon the place has a quirky atmosphere of history and the strange . I suspect you might perhaps see this restless spirit more than most.

You might be able to see the ghost of a man lurking. Perhaps he is the murderer?

If the poor girl saw her murderer then yes, it would be possible to see the person through her "spiritual eyes".

I cannot imagine the torment a spirit is going through aware of their own murderer.

There is an alleged by some people a malignant male presence that stays in the shadows. It is thought to have been the possible murderer of the young girl?

Yes, quite possibly the murderer of the young girl, for whatever reason, cannot or will not, move on.

Like you said, a visit would be in order, now that COVID-19 restrictions are now being positively modified and/or removed. LOL

Hello Simon

It is good to see things opening back up again. And chance to visit these places become an option again.

Alas for me I am not very mobile these days. I can only visit in spirit.

Sometimes visiting a place in spirit is the best way.

Hang in there KANACKI, it matters not how slow you move as long as it is forward.
