I can't wait to get to Sydney to do this tour.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

Last Sunday Mr 15 and I did the last Twilight tour of Rookwood for the year. The twilight tours are run during the summer months to beat the heat. The tour was quite small, just Mr 15 and I and 2 guides. It covered some headstone symbolism, some history and quite a lot of talk about conservation of the cemetry.

We saw the grave of the bushranger Capt Moonlite, Louisa Lawson (mother of Henry), the 1st train driver in NSW, and several others of interest. We heard the tale of the murder of the Catholic caretaker. We saw the vaults of the Toohey (I feel like a Toohey's) family. We saw the bee hives that are kept in Rookwood to help propergate the plant life (the scent of the honey was delish!)

I was disappointed that I didn't learn a little more, but for someone that knows nothing about Rookwood this is a great beginners tour. It covers a very small section of the cemetery but there are not enough hours in the day to do a walking tour of Rookwood all at once.

I am looking forward to doing a few more of these tours :) We took lots of photos and they are loaded onto my facebook, if anyone wants to see just email for my name and I will add you.
