Greetings all once again special thanks to headless that is making my life easier helping to find more Australian ghost stories we could make 500 where we have a good idea of location and names of those involved in those stories. I hope this forum continues as it will be invaluable resource of people interested in the Paranormal. And for those love Australian ghost stories that haunts and taunts us of what if.

Some of these locations can be visited others are private property some of locations have been redeveloped. However all of the stories give a unique insight into forgotten people that has gone before us in many places of Australia. So regardless it is you the reader here and of where you live in Australia there are places that have haunting memories of once was not part of folklore. You will know the story as best as we know at the time.

While indeed some will have more truth and compelling evidence of the supernatural. others may be just urban legends. It is not my intention to make you belief or not as its your intuition that will decide for you. For me its simple pleasure of conveying these stories from folklore. to preserve them in our collective memory.

The following story is from a place near Mudgee in NSW that had a lingering story almost forgotten to day. The house still exists and you can see its picture below. For those guests I implore you to try to join the forum as it will unlock pictures of haunted places in Australia and not just of famous stories but of little known places many indeed may be near you and you have never known.

The “Mudgee Independent” reported that the Lang family who lived 24 miles from Cooyal were being troubled by falling stones. According to the family the stones would fall through the roof
or float through the air without the slightest warning, Mrs Lang said when a stone fell on the floor it fell with a dull thud & appeared to be black in colour.

When asked if the stones had ever hit anyone she replied that some of her children had been struck but never very hard. They described it as being as if a small bag of feathers had struck them. On the first evening Mr Lang was returning home with a bag of flour on a pack horses, on approaching the house the animal showed reluctance to proceed further. On being unpacked he immediately bolted.

At that moment the stones started to fall for the first time. During the evening & on each successive evening from 5pm till 9 or 10 pm the stones continued to fall. On several occasions they floated into the house - sometimes in a diagonal position - at other times horizontally.

One evening a flat stone floated in at the door, struck a kerosene lamp on table, turned and knocked against half a dozen plates causing them to roll to the floor, fortunately nothing was broken. The stones, although not seen by the reporter were said to be about 5″ in diameter, nearly circular in shape & flat.

What was the strange events that took place there was it practical jokers or was there some thing more darker sinister? Poltergeist activity.

Here is picture of Cyril Lang with his daughter and son in the background in 1928. Was the daughter when a teenager the source of paranormal activity?

Such stone throwing activity was common in the early 20th century. Was it poltergeist activity or human agency involved?
