Sarah the Pub Ghost Daley Waters: NT
« on: August 05, 2020, 11:44:41 AM »
There is a ghost haunting a roadhouse pub hundreds of miles from anywhere in Outback Northern Territory.

The history of the pub is a gem, too. Dating back to 1930, it was originally built by Bill and Henrietta Pierce. Since then it has been the backdrop for numerous shootings, murders, and cattle stampedes.

Station owners have threatened to burn the place down and many a brawl has taken place behind closed doors. And on the dusty streets outside!

Today, there are no longer any shootouts or murders that take place there. Instead, gun fights have been exchanged for ghost stories thanks to the unusual goings-on at night. It is thought there is a ghost called Sarah who was murdered by her husband after having an affair with the gardener – so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

to be continued....

The pub was originally a country store built in 1900 for a stone that never really developed. Eventually with telegraph the pub developed. Today the pub is road stop for tourist who leave items behind at the bar. Couple of years ago due to a bet a women left her bra at the bar. Today hundreds of bras and business cards surround the bars as tokens of tourists visits. I wonder what Sarah the resident ghost would think?

And who was really the ghost haunting the Daley waters Pub?

A little detective work identified Sarah. Her name was Sarah Grace Jones

Sarah was born in Pine Creek in 1921. She married Maurice Conrad Fisher Thomas on 8th of September 1939 at Smith Street, Darwin, Northern Territory, She has one daughter is as far as we know still living in Queensland. Sarah lived in Archer Street, Tennant Creek, Barkly, Northern Territory, Australia in 1963.

She had divorced Maurice Conrad Fisher Thomas and had at some point remarried Louis James Pringle who died 17 August 1976  at Katherine, Northern Territory.

She has spent several of later years working at the pub. But as she got older and her life faded she spent her final years at Mataranka. On the 29th May 1987 at Mataranka, Northern Territory she passed away. She was buried on the 30th May 1987 at Mataranka Cemetery, Mataranka,

While stories abounded about the alleged ghost at Daley Waters Pub was of a murdered women called Sarah? The real Sarah was  Sarah Grace Jones who spent a lot of her final working years at the pub. She died at age 66 of breast cancer. And thus the stories that involved leaving bras at the Daley waters pub was in remembrance of all the women who had died of breast cancer.

A legacy who of no doubt will have pleased Sarah so much is perhaps why she still watches over the Pub?

Many back packers have worked there as claimed to have encountered a presence lurking in the hotel. Perhaps she liked the hotel so much she never left? And perhaps keeps a eye on the goings on at the place today?

If passing remember please hang a bra for Sara? If not  just for her but for all of those women that have died of breast cancer.
