The Thing haunting Moons siding Narrandera NSW

In all the strange tails of hauntings this has to be the strangest apparition ever recorded in Australian history.

In 1949 at a place called Moons siding haunts a strange apparition that is in description neither man or beast. Was it a practical joker? Or some thing else dark and sinister?

Was it a strange creature, Alien or ghost? Yet it encompassed parts of all three. Whatever the thing was it scared quite a few grown men.

Three farm hands  had heard stories of this strange apparition at Moons siding. One night the three spent three hours there in the dark and saw nothing. Just as they were about to leave a strange creature came walking up the road. It looked like some thing out of a horror science fiction movie. It looked like a man with no neck and one large glowing eye in the middle of its head. One of the men grabbed at it and grabbed a handful of feathers and fur before it vanished in front of their eyes. Which was later exhibited at the Chemist at Narrandera .

Another load of people saw later the alleged apparition on road as it vanished after wailing in front of them while seeing it in their cars headlights.

What was this mystery creature that haunted moons siding? Any ideas?

Moons siding was rail spur to allow trains to pass on another along the single rail line. This was 5 miles south west of Narranderra. It was operated by NSW Railways from 1901 to 1935. There is a grave near the site near Newell Hwy of man who was murdered with a bottle in 1860. Another man burned to death in a shack near Moon siding in the late 1930's.

Was any of these events connected to the strange alleged apparition?

Today there is not much of the old siding to see as the rails and sleeps for the most part have been ripped up  and now the rail track is some what a ghost itself.

Was the story all a Hoax or was there some thing strange that happened there? this as you could imagine requires a little deeper investigation?

Another thing was the encounter actually an alleged Mothman encounter similar to the ones later claimed in United states years later?

If it was not a Hoax then it was one of the most strangest paranormal sightings in Australian history. Was it an alien, ghost or strange animal?

There is also strange parallel to the strange creature sited in Cornwall England in the MID 1970S. Is the strange sightings just mis interpenetrated sighting inn the dark an large owl. Plus add a bit of imagination to what they allegedly saw?

What you might find strange is an earlier report of a strange creature of similar description from Mudgee dated 40 years earlier than the 1949 Naranderra apparition.
