GHOSTS SCARE AWAY BUYERS OF PORTSMOUTH HOME

THE owners of Britain’s most haunted house have given it away for free after potential buyers were scared away.

Wymering Manor in Portsmouth, boasts a spectral choir of nuns and unseen hands that grab passers-by.

The property failed to reach its reserve price of £375,000 when it was put up for auction last year.

Owners Portsmouth City Council have now donated the Grade II listed building to Wymering Manor Trust, with a £30,000 grant for urgent repair work.

Former resident David Scanlan said: “The spirits seem to be quite nice and quite friendly and it’s almost like we get on with them and they tolerate us.”

Paranormal experts claim to have sensed up to 30 spirits living there.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

Wish we could get that here...

If you cannot help, then at least don't hurt.

It does look pretty creepy to me.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

Everyone was saying all spirits were friendly; granted there were a large number.

It all sounds somewhat stupid to give away such a property. I would, if I was able to travel, be on the first flight out.

These five are gravity, generosity of (the) soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness.

Greetings Simon,

It may sound stupid, however if no one would buy it and the council no longer wanted it then giving it away to a group who will look after it and care for it is a rather wise decision. This way the property lasts and is not simply knocked down to make way for developers.

Take Care.

Lord Daemon I completely agree with you. Preservation works for me on any historic building or grounds.

I must say you have just given me RSI, but loved all your questions and hopefully look forward to more posts between us.

On that note, I bid you all a good evening.
