Ghostly goings-ons at Battle Abbey

GHOST busters can take a spooky walk around 1066, Battle of Hastings, Abbey and Battlefield, where some sinister stories have come to light.
A mysterious lady in a red dress, a figure in Tudor costume lurking in the shadows and a monk wearing a white habit are just some of the ghostly apparitions seen at the historic site.
More recently, not only are there reports of ghostly presences, but photographs to back them up.
A picture taken by a visitor in 2010, shows what looks like the shadowy outline of a hooded monk sitting reading. Other sightings of ghostly monks have been reported and in previous years, staff have entered closed, disused rooms – on one occasion to find a nest filled with potatoes, and another, rotting apples.
During the tour on Friday November 9, visitors will be led around the spooky abbey ruins to hear about the ghostly goings on that have been witnessed over the years – or witness some of their own!
The tour will run 1-2.30pm and costs £15 per person (£10 for English Heritage members) - booking tickets for this event is essential as places are limited, call 0870 333 1183.
Tours are not suitable for under 11s, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
