Nature, fights back once again.
To practice five things under all circumstances constitutes perfect virtue;

These five are gravity, generosity of (the) soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness.

I reckon that would be terrifying.
Stop the torture. Stop Yulin. Become the voice of animals who cannot talk.

Look for the light in everyone you meet.
You may be the only person that ever sees it.

JulieD, I saw this one also.

It seems that there are a lot of sites that should never be built on without proper surveys being carried out.

Greed over "safe building practices" I think.

Images of trees and land being swallowed up in less than a minute by a giant sinkhole in Louisiana have been caught on video.

The dramatic footage shows tall trees slightly leaning at first, then quickly receding below the surface amid currents.

The footage was posted on the Assumption Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness blog. It was shot by a parish official.

The Assumption Parish sinkhole near Bayou Corne has been swallowing land since it appeared in August last year.

It had been in a dormant period before it picked up activity.

Officials say the 24-acre opening in the earth is growing.

'The sinkhole continues to be active and grow,' OEP Director John Boudreaux said.

Boudreaux added that homes are not in danger, and they are updating people who live near the sinkhole often.

Catseyes, really amazing to watch, especially, the "after" scene as it looks as though the trees were never there in the first place.

Sinkholes around water tend to leave no evidence of any change, they silently grow wider and deeper under the waterline.

If you cannot help, then at least don't hurt.

The sink holes are increasing in both size and frequency.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

I think its simply a matter of sink holes becoming more common knoweledge thanks to our media as apposed to more sinkholes forming,

Approximatly 8 years back now we had one on our main street, back then i had never heard of a sink hole, I just saw a big hole formed in the road, approx 2 meters square and equally as deep, the local council just filled it, compacted it then re layed the road section

Hello Variflex,
Welcome to the site by the way, I hope we hear more from you.
Yes I think increased media can often result in a perceived increase in something. Im not sure if this is the case here or not, but you may well be right.

Oh wow, it's been a while since I last posted here and funnily enough I believe our local sink hole is ready to form again as I am seeing water constantly seeping out of the road in that same location,
I did report it to the local council close to two months ago, nothing much has happened although i believe they must be planning to work on it as there are now survey marks around the area, i expecting they will dig the road up shortly and sort the issue
