Has anyone done the Monte Cristo Tour?

So has anyone done this tour and if so I'm really interested to hear how it was. I am seriously considering travelling down to NSW to do this one and even the Maitland Gaol one while I'm there.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

It is a cool place to go visit, i actually grew up 40 minutes from there... i am originally from wagga wagga.
I have visited the house several times starting as a child... i think the last time i went for a visit was several years ago, i had planned on going back on my last visit home but ran out of time, so maybe when i go back at christmas this year i might pop over.
There are many, many cold spots in the house and some parts of the house really made me feel uneasy.
I think last time i was there, there was a booklet you could purchase about the house that told of happenings going on around the house over the years... the owners dont like to talk about the goings on during tours and i think that is why they did the booklet up.
Enjoy the visit, you will love it

I would have thought they would certainly talk about the goings on during the tours as that is one of the main reason people visit there. I will definately go there one day and I can't wait.

Yeh i dont understand it either, there used to be a sign at the beginning of the tour asking people not to ask about the goings on and when you read the booklet you would understand why, i also think that if they spent time answering the questions the tour would last all day and not the 45mins or so that it goes for... they would be exhausted....lol
I will definately make a point of going there on my next visit to get one of the booklets so that i can scan it and post it on here.
It is one freaky place.

If you want to know about the ghosts then you have to do that tour or else they just talk about the house and the antiques.

I've tried to book this tour with some friends, but alas the operators were completely disinterested in any one group of less than ten or so - even putting smaller groups together was frowned upon.
So I found this hard to organise especially for an overnighter.
Even getting some simple answers about the accommodation was like pulling teeth and I gave up.
Perhaps I picked a busy day to make my queries.
Despite these setbacks i'm still interested in exploring this tour. It's a shame that there are no "tour-only" options (without the overnight stay), but I imagine the popularity of the stay removes the drive for this.
I'd love to hear feedback from those who have done this tour.

The night I stayed there, a group of women were there for the dinner and tour only. Maybe you can do that?

The place is now self tour. So you can go any time you like and do the self tour. But they only discuss the ghosts on the night one generally.

You can now book a ghost tour on any week night as long as you have 10 or more people to attend.
You can also do a virtual tour: Not the same affect though.
