Speaking of estate jewellery...

I'm not one who actually follows royalty, but I do read the news on Google's homepage and ninemsn each morning and ...

I see that Prince William has given his fiance, Kate Middleton, the engagement ring that his mother, Di, wore.  I'm not sure this is such a brilliant idea.

Anyone into diamonds and sapphires would think this large oval 'big blue' is rather spectacular, but perhaps it might be better left in the family vault.

Ah well, good luck to 'em.

good luck to them...
its a famous piece of jewellery..but i wouldn't want to wear it..for the reasons you said salty...plus, it belonged to his mum and if it were me I'd feel I couldn't live up to the expectations that went with it..I'd rather my own special piece...

One day my light went out, but was blown again into flame by an encounter with some wonderful people I call friends. I owe the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light...

That's what I thought too, Lotsa.  I pity that poor girl if the ring brings anything like the drama that went on in Di's life.

I tink the gesture is actually rather nice. I don't think she would have worn it on that fatal day and hopefully it doesn't prove a troublesomoe choice for him.

Plenty of people give their beloveds their mum or grandmothers rings.

I recently read a rong for the lady from Como House. she was given it as an estate ring by her fiancee. Managed to get details etc off it and Mary chased them up and found the people etc. We are trying to find out if the current branch of the family knew of the ring.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

I'm sure the Royal Court Wizard has thoroughly performed all the necessary spells so the ring from the Prince will be an unblemished token of his true love..... :P
I was pondering the expression 'revenge is a dish best served cold'. Then I considered that 'revenge is sweet'. I now have come to the conclusion that revenge is ice cream.

Glop. I stumbled upon this thread and thought we should resurrect it.
