The lurker on the Bridge: Sunbury VIC
« on: June 13, 2018, 06:47:41 AM »
There is a a tale of a lost love, broken hearts, suicide and a haunting of a maid haunts the base of the railway Bridge. Called romantically enough the Salasian Bridge.

The story tells the sad story of maid perhaps around the 1890's  allegedly  from Kismet Park Manor fell in love with a young man the air to Salisian Manor.

They used to meet near Salisian Bridge late at night when they couldn't be discovered. Eventually, the young man was to marry, but insisted he marry the maid instead, for he truly loved her. However it was not to be.

One version claimed His family refused to ever let him see her again and he killed himself. Another version claim he tied of her and abandoned her after having his way with her.

The maid didn't find out for a while, and every night she continued to go to the bridge, where she waited for him. When she found out what happened to the young man, she killed herself in despair .

Was there any truth to this romantic lost love type haunting?

It has been claimed late at night by locals over many years, that some times on a moonlight night you can see her ghost wandering around the base of Salisian Bridge, looking for her lost love.

You can see the picture of fine stone bridge below....

To be continued.....

KANACKI, once again we have a love story, with an unhappy ending, given that the man may have Crossed-Over, whilst the Spirit of the Maid purportedly continues to wander at the bottom of the bridge.

I wait anxiously for the next episode to get a better feel of whether or not the Maid's Spirit does indeed wander alone at the bottom of the Bridge the two lovers used to meet.

Hello Simon

Most likely the case. However I have not been able to identity the two main people of this story?

There was a farm called Kismet and there is a grand mansion near by?

hello Again

Gee so much for new glasses posted by mistake. Kismet was a farm house that was horse stud. You can see the picture below.

Also near Rupertswood house now called Salasian girls catholic school below.

For any guest who cannot see I suggest you sign up to the Forum.

Its appears the two houses from the story existed at least? But was there a relationship between the Gentlemen from the Mannor house and the the maids living on a nearby farm?

Love the Mansion KANACKI, boy would love to stroll through it, there may be one or two "stories" in the Mansion besides the "Lurker on the Bridge" (Sunbury, Victoria).

Hello Simon I could imagine both places have their very own distinct histories to tell.

If only the walls can speak?

Hello Simon

Try as might I never found any record of any death or suicide that I could pinpoint to this location.

However this did mean the liaison did not happened ? Just no official record of it. The Bridge may not of been the site of the maids death but a site of powerful significance for her as that was place they used to meet?

Morning KANACKI, I still believe that the Maid does indeed wander around the Bridge at Sunbury, Victoria most probably to ensure that she cannot marry or remain a "Love Interest".

On hearing of her "Murder" the distraught Man committed suicide in the home; main question is, did the Man Passover leaving a very high negative energy level in the Grand Home, or did he fail to crossover and also still awaits meeting his true love, "The Maid".

Hello Simon

Its hard to know for sure. While no doubt during the era in question such liaisons did go on. Because of a social class system of the time may of been the driving wedge between such relationships discharging powerful emotions at crossing points?

KANACKI, I agree with you, so I think this Post should remain open until there are resolutions of the two deaths and whether they still wander the area where they were last physical beings.

Yes it one of these ghost tales from Folk lore that is hard to know if there is any truth behind the legend.
